Stuart Craig "Stu" Snyder (born May 2, 1959) is an American businessman, media executive, and theatrical producer. He is best known as the President and Chief Operating Officer of Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media at Turner Entertainment (and in turn Cartoon Network) from May 2, 2007 to March 31, 2014, replacing Jim Samples. The eras under him were Yes! (2007), Summer 2007 (2007), Fall (2007–08), Noods (2008–10), CHECK it (2010–14), and YEEEAUHHHH! (2011–13). Christina Miller succeeded Snyder as CN's president in July 16, 2014. He has also worked with brands such as Turner, CINAR, WWF, and Feld over the course of his career.

Career

WWF

From 2000 to 2001, Snyder served as COO and President of the World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE), and oversaw the sale of competitor World Championship Wrestling (WCW) to WWF CEO Vince McMahon.

Cinar Corporation

From 2003 to 2004, Snyder was President and CEO of Cinar Corporation.

GameTap

From 2005 to 2007, Snyder served as General Manager and Senior Vice President of GameTap.

Turner Broadcasting System

On May 2, 2007, Snyder was named President and Chief Operating Officer of Animation, Young Adults, and Kids Media at Turner Broadcasting.[1] This included Cartoon Network, with Snyder being the replacement for previous president Jim Samples, who had resigned following the 2007 Boston bomb scare.

Under Snyder, CN's programming also began to have looser standards, with many series being rated TV-PG, as well as being more creator-driven than those of years past. His regime did have its missteps, however, such as an attempt to branch the network into reality television programming with the CN Real block in 2009.[2]

On March 31, 2014, Stuart Snyder was confirmed to have been removed as president and COO of Turner's Animation, Young Adults & Kids Media division after company changes.[3] Christina Miller was named his successor.

Other ventures

Snyder co-produced a new stage production of The Exorcist, which premiered in Birmingham and opened on the West End in 2017 and Broadway in 2018. He is also the co-owner of the famous Beal's Lobster Pier on Mount Desert Island, Maine.

Cartoon Network Original Series greenlighted by Snyder

Episodes of respective Cartoon Network original series that greenlighted during Snyder era were aired from April 12, 2008 to November 10, 2017.
