Shinchan (or Crayon Shin-chan in Japan) is a Japanese anime that started airing on TV Asahi on April 13, 1992. In the year 2021 channels of Cartoon Network premiered the spinoff anime series Super Shiro which originally premiered in Japan in 2019.
In 2001, Vitello Productions and Lacey Production dubbed the series in English and produced 52 episodes. In 2004, Phuuz Entertainment Inc got the rights to produce a new adaption, Phuuz produced 78 episodes. After Phuuz's license expired, Funimation acquired the rights, their dub was approved and debuted between the years 2006 and 2011. The series also aired on Cartoon Network in several international territories. The English dubbed version that aired in the United States has ended, the original Japanese version is ongoing and foreign dubbed versions are also ongoing.
The series has had multiple spelling variants outside of Japan: Shinchan, Shin-chan and Shin Chan.
