Mao Mao: Heroes of Pure Heart (originally titled, I Love You Mao Mao) is an American animated television series created by OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes' Parker Simmons. The series premiered on July 1, 2019, in the United States.

A second season was announced on July 23, 2020. However. Cartoon Network later removed the announcements of the second season from their social media channels on August 18, 2022. The reason is unknown, but it may be due to the Warner Bros. Discovery merger.

When Titmouse Animation was created in 2000, Parker Simmons wanted to make his own show that inspires by the videos he did on YouTube. After the drawing song videos, and the pilot. He made the character into his own show.

A week after the premiere of the Season 1 finale "Strange Bedfellows", Cartoon Network confirmed production on Season 2 during Comic-Con@Home on July 23, 2020, and even posted an animatic on its YouTube channel. The announcement was met with enthusiasm from fans of the show.

However, no official word was given after the announcement for two years until on August 18, 2022, when the show was unexpectedly removed from HBO Max alongside many other original cartoons, which may have effectively confirmed that the show was cancelled without airing its second season.

It is currently unknown if the show has a possibility to be acquired for other platforms to continue production. As of now, Season 2 is shelved and unfinished, waiting to be released.

Plot[]

The series follows Sheriff Mao Mao, an explosive loner and famous hero; Badgerclops, a lovable oaf; and Adorabat, an adorable sidekick. They work together to bring justice and peace to the people of the valley.

  • Mao Mao — A Cat who is Explosive, He is always into adventure and can get very angry at times.
  • Badgerclops — A Badger who is a Slacker and he is extremely lazy and who is really calm and sensitive.
  • Adorabat — A Bat who is very sweet and interested in Mao Mao's adventures, She can get very violent sometimes.

Villains[]

  • Sky Pirates
    • Orangusnake — Orangusnake is the boss of the Sky Pirates, He is always into winning and he gets ruthless. He plans to steal the Ruby of Pure Heart Valley.
    • Ramaraffe — A Giraffe who can stretch her neck, She is a brawler and can be very silly sometimes, In the past, She wanted to be a baker but instead a pirate.
    • Boss Hosstrich — An Ostrich that can shoot eggs and loves to play puppets when he is alone, Also he is part of the sky pirates.
    • Ratarang — A Rat who acts like a child, and He shape-shifts himself as a Boomerang.
    • Beef Master — A Bull who is a former member of the group.
    • Thunder Fist — A Gorilla who is a former member of the group.
    • Steel Wing — A Dragon that can't fly, and a former member of the group.
  • Thicket Thieves
    • Tiny Toad — A Toad who is the leader of the Team.
    • Bullmozer — A Mole who can dig like a bulldozer.
    • Ratracer — A Rat who is a fast racer and has one wheel.
  • Rufus- A sly and cunning fox who swindles the Sweetypies of Pure Heart Valley.
  • Reggie - A raccoon and Rufus' sidekick.

  • King Snugglemagne — A Lion who is the King of the Pure Heart Kingdom
  • Bao Bao — A Dog who is a former partner of Mao Mao.
  • Tanya Keys — A Tanuki who was the secondary partner of Mao Mao.

Appearances in other media[]

Mao Mao makes a cameo appearance in the OK K.O.! Let's Be Heroes Special Crossover Nexus. He was turned into stone before the show premiered. From the Victor and Valentino Episode "Cat-pocalypse!", The eyes were similar to the character.

The series was acknowledged in Cartoon Network’s 30th Anniversary video in October 2022.
