On a comment of a Facebook post, John R. Dilworth said:
"To all our Courage fans... I am deeply moved by the love for our show. I am grateful that our talented team was able to do some good in the world. I have promising news... We are expecting to begin development on a potential prequel to CCD (Courage the Cowardly Dog) titled "Before Courage" for Boomerang!. Stay tooned for more.Who knows what will happen (o= Continue to write Cn to keep broadcasting CCD."
In May 2020, Dilworth was asked about the project on Twitter, he responded with "It somehow transformed into another thing...".[2]
In January 2022, Dilworth revealed the project was dropped due to Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network's new management prioritizing other properties.[3]
In February 2024, Dilworth uploaded the pilot titled "Goblins of Litter" on his YouTube channel.[4]
